Meet Our Team

Jay is the founder and owner of our company. He was born and raised in Rochester, NY and is married with two daughters. Prior to starting this business, Jay spent 30 years working in the corporate world. However, he wanted to use his MBA from the University of Rochester’s Simon School of Business, with a concentration in Finance and Entrepreneurship, to create a company that aligns with his core values. He believes that putting the culture and well-being of employees first leads to a top-notch customer experience.

Jay and his leadership team have built a passionate and dedicated team of tree care professionals who are always looking to grow their knowledge and skills. They have also created a fun and supportive work environment. In his free time, Jay enjoys being outdoors, hiking with his dogs, and staying active by playing basketball. He is also always looking for opportunities to continue his education and further his tree care knowledge. Since leaving the corporate world, Jay has greatly enjoyed working with this talented team and meeting many of our clients

When Jason isn't staring at trees or shrubs on his clients' properties, he is busy enjoying life with his wife, two daughters, and their pets! Jason and his family spend a lot of time hiking, walking their dog, gardening, doing craft projects & puzzles, participating in Girl Scouts, horseback riding and camping! Jason's love for trees deeply invades his personal life as he is an active and non-stop tree planter, member of his Town Park Committee and general tree enthusiast in our community. In addition to his love and devotion for his family, keeping trees healthy is Jason’s passion and his life’s work!

James has been in the tree industry since 1999, starting before graduating from high school. James’s first taste of professional tree care was in completing his Eagle Scout project during which he worked with a local tree company to make way for a local community park in Gates, NY. As a Certified Arborist and Utility Arborist Specialist, James worked to keep the electricity flowing within his community and responding to electrical grid tree-related emergencies for about 6 years. In his off time, James spends his time reading, writing, and traveling. As a graduate of SUNY Brockport with a BS in Sociology and History, much of his time is spent contemplating Law and Government and how it relates to social dynamics, as well as studying languages. James has lived all over the US and has spent many months traveling in Mexico, Guatemala, and Europe. When he’s not looking at trees, he is known to be with his wife, son, and two dogs.

In addition to being an ISA Certified Arborist, Jimbo has additional certifications from ISA as an Urban Forest Professional and a Utility Specialist.

Jenn is the Director of First Impressions at our company and has been with us since 2020. She brings over 20 years of experience in providing excellent customer service. Jenn is often the first point of contact for prospective clients and strives to create a positive first impression and set the tone for a great customer experience. She values open communication with our clients and is dedicated to ensuring that they have a positive experience with our company. In her free time, Jenn enjoys live music, amusement parks, and gardening. She is also a skilled cook and is working on mastering the art of creating the perfect sushi roll. Jenn is married and has 5 children and 4 grandchildren, whom she loves spending time with.

Mike, also known as Big Mike, is a native of Rochester and has been working in the tree care industry professionally since 2010. He began cutting firewood and brush with his parents in the mid 1990s and climbed his first tree in 2003. Big Mike is known for being a skilled tree climber and is affectionately called Big Mike due to his size. In fact, he claims to have never met a climber larger than himself, leading us to believe that he may be the biggest professional tree climber in the world. In addition to his impressive climbing skills, Mike is also a Certified Treecare Safety Professional (CTSP) and enjoys working with our crews to develop their skills and become the best arborists in the area

Mike has been a part of our team since 2018, but has over 20 years of experience in the tree care industry. He is a skilled crew leader and has a talent for providing excellent customer service. As a fun fact, Mike used to ride broncos and we hope to see him in action on a real or mechanical bronco one day. In his free time, Mike enjoys riding his motorcycle, caring for his dogs and chickens, and spending time with his grandkids. Along with Kyle, Mike is also an excellent mentor and trainer, and has helped develop several apprentice climbers into top-notch crew leaders. On the job, Mike can often be found running the crew and operating our 83' lift, or climbing on jobs where the bucket truck or lift don't have access.

Sarah joined our crew in 2022 with 3 years’ experience in the tree care industry. She holds a bachelor's degree in Outdoor Recreation Business Administration from the University of Maine at Farmington. Sarah also holds her master's in Public Administration, completed at SUNY Brockport. Sarah has a real appreciation for all things arboriculture. She loves being able to share her knowledge and teach others the importance of trees. Shortly after coming on board, she completed the NY 30-hour course and passed the two NY DEC exams required to become a Certified Commercial Pesticide Technician (T8890526). Her perfect weekend involves hiking or camping with her wife, son, and dogs. And of course, cheering for the Bills

Kev has been a part of our team since 2018 and brings over 10 years of industry experience to the table. In his personal life, Kev is married with two young children and a pet dog. When he's not working, Kev and his family enjoy camping and frequently take their camper out for adventures. On the job, Kev can often be found operating the bucket truck or lift and managing tree care operations on the ground. His expertise and dedication to his work make him a valuable asset to our team

Trevor joined our team as an Apprentice Climber in 2019, and has quickly become known for his exceptional skills and teamwork. In addition to his expertise in tree pruning, removal, and stump grinding, Trevor is also a talented musician. He is a valued member of our team and can often be found on site, delivering top-notch results for our clients.

Max joined our team in 2021 as a recent graduate of SUNY Brockport, where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science. He is dedicated to becoming a Certified Arborist and a skilled tree climber.  Max completed the coursework and testing to become a Certified Commercial Pesticide Technician in 2021 and met the work experience and additional course work required to become a Certified Applicator in 2022.  Max can often be found on site, performing tree and shrub pruning, removal work, plant health care, and lawn applications. His expertise and dedication to his work make him an asset to our team.

Joe is a true outdoorsman and nature enthusiast, so it was a natural fit when he joined our team as an apprentice climber in 2022. With a background in the US Marines as an Aviation Electronics Technician, Joe brings a strong work ethic and discipline to his role. Before discovering his passion for all things green, Joe spent 10 years working in a chemical manufacturing company. In his free time, he enjoys working outdoors and has a goal to eventually live off the grid. We're excited to have Joe on board as a valuable member of our crew.

Shawn has been with Monster Tree Service of Rochester since March of 2024.  Prior to joining our team, Shawn was a climbing arborist down in Texas.  In Shawn's free time, you will usually find him enjoying the outdoors.  Shawn likes to hang out on Seneca Lake when the sun is out where he can meditate and take in the beautiful scenery.

Robert joined our team in 2025 after moving to Rochester from Cleveland. Robert brings hands-on experience in tree and shrub care, including fertilization, soil health, pest and disease treatments, and proper pruning practices. Outside of arboriculture, Robert is also an accomplished French Horn and Natural Horn musician who enjoys teaching in his free time.

James brings a wealth of hands-on experience in tree care, landscaping, and lawn health. With a strong foundation in small team leadership, he successfully built and operated his own landscape business for five years, handling everything from sales and client communication to scheduling and equipment maintenance. His passion for continuous improvement led him to develop strong diagnostic skills in turf care and gain expertise in safe climbing techniques. James is committed to professionalism and takes pride in educating clients while delivering high-quality results. He also contributes his time and skills to community service, where he helps lead maintenance and improvement projects with a focus on teamwork and stewardship
